Senate File 534 S-3346 Amend Senate File 534 as follows: 1 1. By striking everything after the enacting clause 2 and inserting: 3 < Section 1. Section 707.7, subsections 1, 2, and 4, 4 Code 2011, are amended to read as follows: 5 1. Any person who intentionally terminates a human 6 pregnancy, with the knowledge and voluntary consent 7 of the pregnant person, after the end of the second 8 trimester of the pregnancy a gestation period of 9 twenty completed weeks where death of the fetus results 10 commits feticide. Feticide is a class “C” felony. 11 2. Any person who attempts to intentionally 12 terminate a human pregnancy, with the knowledge and 13 voluntary consent of the pregnant person, after the end 14 of the second trimester of the pregnancy a gestation 15 period of twenty completed weeks where death of the 16 fetus does not result commits attempted feticide. 17 Attempted feticide is a class “D” felony. 18 4. This section shall not apply to the termination 19 of a human pregnancy performed by a physician licensed 20 in this state to practice medicine or surgery or 21 osteopathic medicine or surgery when in the best 22 clinical judgment of the physician the termination 23 is performed to preserve the life or health of the 24 pregnant person or of the fetus and every reasonable 25 medical effort not inconsistent with preserving the 26 life of the pregnant person is made to preserve the 27 life of a viable the fetus. 28 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE UPON ENACTMENT. This Act, being 29 deemed of immediate importance, takes effect upon 30 enactment. > 31 2.
