Combat infantryman badge, 11 combat action badge, combat action ribbon, and combat 12 medical badge plates issued pursuant to section 321.34, 13 subsection 20C. 14 Sec. ___. Section 321.34, Code 2011, is amended by 15 adding the following new subsection: 16 NEW SUBSECTION . 20C. Combat infantryman badge, 17 combat action badge, combat action ribbon, and combat 18 medical badge plates. 19 a. An owner referred to in subsection 12 who was 20 awarded a combat infantryman badge, combat action 21 badge, combat action ribbon, or combat medical badge 22 by the United States government may, upon written 23 application to the department and presentation 24 of satisfactory proof of the award, order special 25 registration plates with a combat infantryman badge, 26 combat action badge, combat action ribbon, or combat 27 medical badge processed emblem. The emblems shall be 28 designed by the department in consultation with the 29 adjutant general. The special plate fees collected 30 by the director under subsection 12, paragraphs “a” 31 and “c” , from the issuance and annual validation of 32 letter-number designated and personalized combat 33 infantryman badge, combat action badge, combat action 34 ribbon, and combat medical badge plates shall be paid 35 monthly to the treasurer of state and deposited in 36 the road use tax fund. The treasurer of state shall 37 transfer monthly from the statutory allocations fund 38 created under section 321.145, subsection 2, to the 39 veterans license fee fund created in section 35A.11 the 40 amount of the special fees collected under subsection 41 12, paragraph “a” , in the previous month for combat 42 infantryman badge, combat action badge, combat action 43 ribbon, and combat medical badge plates. 44 b. The surviving spouse of a person who was issued 45 special plates under this subsection may continue 46 to use or apply for and use the special plates 47 subject to registration of the special plates in 48 the surviving spouse’s name and upon payment of the 49 annual five-dollar special plate fee and the regular 50 -1- HF651.2505 (4) 84 dea/nh 1/ 2 #1. #2.
annual registration fee for the vehicle. If the 1 surviving spouse remarries, the surviving spouse shall 2 return the special plates to the department and the 3 department shall issue regular registration plates to 4 the surviving spouse. 5 Sec. ___. Section 321.145, subsection 2, paragraph 6 b, subparagraph (3), Code 2011, is amended to read as 7 follows: 8 (3) The amounts required to be transferred pursuant 9 to section 321.34 from revenues available under 10 this subsection shall be transferred and credited as 11 provided in section 321.34 , subsections 7, 10, 10A, 11, 12 11A, 11B, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 20A, 20B, 20C, 21, 13 22, 23, and 24 for the various purposes specified in 14 those subsections. 15 Sec. ___. EFFECTIVE DATE. This division of this 16 Act takes effect January 1, 2012. > 17 3.
