484B.13A
Hunting
boars.

1.
As
used
in
this
section,
“hunting
boar”
means
5
swine
that
is
all
of
the
following:
6
a.
A
member
if
the
species
sus
scrofa
linnaeus,
7
including
but
not
limited
to
swine
commonly
known
as
8
Russian
boar
or
European
boar
of
either
sex.
9
b.
Classified
as
a
dangerous
wild
animal
pursuant
10
to
chapter
717F.
11
2.
Notwithstanding
anything
in
this
chapter
to
the
12
contrary,
a
person
may
obtain
and
retain
a
license
to
13
operate
a
hunting
preserve
which
confines
a
hunting
14
boar
in
the
same
manner
as
the
person
would
obtain
15
and
retain
a
license
to
maintain
an
ungulate
under
16
this
chapter.
Except
as
provided
in
subsection
3,
the
17
requirements
in
this
chapter
applicable
to
ungulates
18
shall
apply
to
hunting
boars.

3.
In
addition
to
the
requirements
provided
in
20
subsection
2,
a
person
shall
not
obtain
or
retain
a
21
hunting
preserve
license
to
confine
a
hunting
boar
22
under
this
chapter
unless
all
of
the
following
apply:
23
a.
Since
July
1,
2007,
the
person
must
have
24
confined
a
hunting
boar
on
a
contiguous
tract
of
25
land
having
an
area
of
not
less
than
three
hundred
26
twenty
acres
that
is
or
has
been
licensed
as
a
hunting
27
preserve
under
this
chapter.

b.
A
hunting
boar
must
be
confined
by
a
fence
29
that
is
constructed
at
least
three
feet
below
the
30
ground
level
and
at
least
six
feet
above
ground
level.

The
fence
must
be
constructed
in
a
manner
and
using
32
materials
approved
by
the
department.
33
c.
The
department
shall
provide
for
special
tags
34
to
identify
boars
in
the
same
manner
as
provided
for
35
ungulates
in
section
484B.9.
36
d.
In
addition
to
the
health
requirements
for
37
ungulates
provided
in
section
484B.12,
a
hunting
boar
38
shall
be
subject
to
all
statutes
and
rules
applicable
39
to
the
health
of
other
swine,
as
provided
in
Title
40
V,
subtitle
2,
including
the
prevention,
control,
41
and
eradication
of
diseases
afflicting
swine.
Each
42
twelve-month
period,
the
person
licensed
to
operate
the
43
hunting
preserve
shall
submit
a
health
report
to
the
44
department
of
natural
resources
and
the
department
of
45
agriculture
and
land
stewardship
stating
whether
any
46
hunting
boar
has
contracted
an
infectious
or
contagious
47
disease
as
defined
in
section
163.2.
In
addition,
the
48
report
must
declare
that
the
population
is
a
validated
49
brucellosis-free
herd
as
provided
in
chapter
163A
and
50

a
noninfected
herd
because
all
breeding
swine
have

reacted
negatively
for
pseudorabies
as
provided
in
2
chapter
166D.
3
e.
A
live
hunting
boar
must
not
be
removed
from
the

premises
of
the
hunting
preserve.

f.
The
hunting
boar
population
must
not
propagate
6
except
by
the
ovum
and
sperm
of
the
confined
boars.

g.
The
person
shall
notify
the
department
of
8
natural
resources
within
twenty-four
hours
of
9
discovering
that
a
live
hunting
boar
is
no
longer
10
confined.
