Section 257.11, subsection 3, paragraph 3 b, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 2011, is amended to 4 read as follows: 5 If the school budget review committee certifies 6 to the department of management that the class would 7 not otherwise be implemented without the assignment 8 of additional weighting, pupils , except those pupils 9 who have elected to decline college credit under 10 section 261E.8, subsection 4A, attending a community 11 college-offered class or attending a class taught by a 12 community college-employed instructor are assigned a 13 weighting of the percentage of the pupil’s school day 14 during which the pupil attends class in the community 15 college or attends a class taught by a community 16 college-employed instructor times seventy hundredths 17 for career and technical courses or forty-six 18 hundredths for liberal arts and sciences courses. The 19 following requirements shall be met for the purposes of 20 assigning an additional weighting for classes offered 21 through a sharing agreement between a school district 22 and community college. A student enrolled in a 38 course under this section for both college credit and 39 high school credit may, on or after the day on which 40 at least twenty percent of the course’s scheduled 41 meetings have been held or the day on which at least 42 twenty percent of the course requirements have been 43 completed, whichever is earlier, but prior to the date 44 designated by the community college for withdrawing 45 from or dropping a course, elect to decline the award 46 of college credit for completing the course. If the 47 student makes an election under this subsection, the 48 student shall receive only high school credit for 49 completing the course.
