Section 105.18, subsection 4, unnumbered 8 paragraph 1, Code 2011, is amended to read as follows: 9 Notwithstanding section 17A.9A , the board 10 shall through December 31, 2009, waive the written 11 examination requirements and prior experience 12 requirements in subsection 2 , paragraph “b” , 13 subparagraph (1), subparagraph division (c), and 14 subsection 2 , paragraph “c” , subparagraph (3), for a 15 journeyperson or master license if the applicant meets 16 either of the following requirements: 17 Sec. ___. Section 105.18, Code 2011, is amended by 18 adding the following new subsection: 19 NEW SUBSECTION . 5. Waiver for military service. 20 Notwithstanding section 17A.9A, the board shall 21 waive the written examination requirements and prior 22 experience requirements in subsection 2, paragraph “b” , 23 subparagraph (1), and subsection 2, paragraph “c” , for 24 a journeyperson or master license if the applicant 25 meets all of the following requirements: 26 a. Is an active or retired member of the United 27 States military. 28 b. Provides documentation that the applicant was 29 deployed on active duty during any portion of the time 30 period of July 1, 2008, through December 31, 2009. 31 c. Provides documentation that shows the applicant 32 has previously passed an examination which the board 33 deems substantially similar to the examination 34 for a journeyperson license or a master license, 35 as applicable, issued by the board, or provides 36 documentation that shows the applicant has previously 37 been licensed by a state or local governmental 38 jurisdiction in the same trade and trade level. > 39 4.
