Section 80B.5, Code 2011, is amended to 5 read as follows: 6 80B.5 Administration. 7 The administration of this chapter shall be 8 vested in the office of the governor. A director 9 of the academy and such shall be appointed by the 10 governor, after consultation with the Iowa state 11 sheriffs and deputies association, the Iowa police 12 chiefs association, and any other persons or entities 13 the governor deems necessary, shall be subject to 14 confirmation by the senate, and shall serve at the 15 pleasure of the governor. Other staff as may be 16 necessary for it the academy to function shall be 17 employed pursuant to the Iowa merit system provisions 18 of chapter 8A, subchapter IV . > 19 2.
