Section 100C.4, Code 2011, is amended to 3 read as follows: 4 100C.4 Insurance and surety bond requirements . 5 1. A fire extinguishing system contractor 6 shall maintain general and complete operations 7 liability insurance and a surety bond for the 8 layout, installation, repair, alteration, addition, 9 maintenance, and inspection of automatic fire 10 extinguishing systems in an amount determined by the 11 state fire marshal by rule. 12 2. An alarm system contractor shall maintain 13 general and complete operations liability insurance and 14 a surety bond for the layout, installation, repair, 15 alteration, addition, maintenance, and inspection of 16 alarm systems in an amount determined by the state fire 17 marshal by rule. 18 3. The insurance policy and surety bond shall be 19 written by an entity licensed to do business in this 20 state and each licensee shall maintain on file with 21 the department a certificate evidencing the insurance 22 providing that the insurance or surety bond shall not 23 be canceled without the entity first giving fifteen 24 days written notice to the fire marshal. 25 Sec. ___. Section 100D.4, Code 2011, is amended to 26 read as follows: 27 100D.4 Insurance and surety bond requirements. 28 1. An applicant for a fire protection system 29 installer and maintenance worker license or renewal of 30 an active license shall provide evidence of a public 31 liability insurance policy and surety bond in an amount 32 determined sufficient by the fire marshal by rule. 33 2. If the applicant is engaged in fire protection 34 system installer and maintenance worker work 35 individually through a business conducted as a sole 36 proprietorship, the applicant shall personally obtain 37 the insurance and surety bond required by this section . 38 If the applicant is engaged in the fire protection 39 system installer and maintenance worker business 40 as an employee or owner of a legal entity, then the 41 insurance and surety bond required by this section 42 shall be obtained by the entity and shall cover all 43 fire protection system installer and maintenance worker 44 work performed by the entity. 45 3. The insurance and surety bond policy shall be 46 written by an entity licensed to do business in this 47 state and each licensee shall maintain on file with 48 the department a certificate evidencing the insurance 49 providing that the insurance or surety bond policy 50 -1- HF618.1636 (1) 84 rn/rj 1/ 2 #1.
