(1) A curriculum committee is created 12 consisting of the director of transportation or the 13 director’s designee, the director of the department of 14 education or the director’s designee, and the president 15 of the Iowa association of safety education or the 16 president’s designee. The committee shall elect a 17 chair from among its members and shall adopt rules of 18 procedure. A majority of the members constitutes a 19 quorum. The committee shall meet at the call of the 20 chairperson, but no less frequently than every five 21 years. Meetings of the committee shall be subject to 22 the provisions for open meetings under chapter 21. 23 (2) The committee shall identify one or more 24 recommended curricula comprising an approved course to 25 be administered by a teaching parent. In addition, 26 the committee shall identify curricula for a training 27 course for parents. The committee may annually approve 28 changes to the curricula. The committee shall approve 29 a standard curriculum list for each course at least 30 once every five years. 31 (3) An approved course shall, at a minimum, 32 meet the requirements of paragraphs “a” and “b” and 33 be appropriate for teaching-parent-directed driver 34 education and related street or highway instruction. 35 The list of approved courses to be administered by a 36 teaching parent and the list of training courses for 37 parents shall be posted on the department’s internet 38 site. > 39 5.
