Section 105.2, Code 2011, is amended by 3 adding the following new subsection: 4 NEW SUBSECTION . 14A. “Permit worker” means a 5 person who is a nonresident of Iowa working in Iowa for 6 an Iowa-based employer and who is allowed to work in 7 the discipline for which the worker permit is issued 8 for a period of six months. > 9 2. Page 3, before line 30 by inserting: 10 < Sec. ___. Section 105.18, Code 2011, is amended by 11 adding the following new subsection: 12 NEW SUBSECTION . 5. Worker permit. Permit 13 workers must be able to demonstrate at least four 14 years’ experience in the appropriate discipline as 15 a prerequisite for obtaining a permit. Completion 16 of a United States department of labor approved 17 apprenticeship program is required to obtain a permit. 18 Permit workers must work under the direct supervision 19 of an Iowa journeyman or master license holder, not 20 to exceed three permit workers for each Iowa licensed 21 journeyman or master license holder. Upon expiration 22 of the six-month permit, a six-month waiting period 23 must be completed before application for another 24 permit may occur. Permit fees are fifty dollars for 25 each discipline. Application for permits of separate 26 disciplines must be made at the same time and may not 27 be staggered in such a manner as to allow the permit 28 holder to work under a single or combined discipline 29 permit for longer than six months. The board shall 30 establish an expedited process enabling permit 31 applicants to begin work immediately upon submittal of 32 the work permit application and fees. The board has 33 the authority to retroactively revoke permits issued 34 under this subsection upon discovery of inadequate 35 experience. > 36 3.
