     1  1    Amend Senate File 372 as follows:
     1  2 #1.  Page 1, by striking lines 1 through 14 and
     1  3 inserting the following:
     1  4    <Section 1.  STATEWIDE BROADBAND POLICY DEVELOPMENT
     1  5 INTERIM STUDY COMMITTEE.  The legislative council is
     1  6 requested to establish an interim study committee to
     1  7 evaluate the need for statewide broadband access, the
     1  8 extent to which such access exists, and the necessity
     1  9 for and content of a statewide broadband policy.  In
     1 10 conducting the study, the committee shall review
     1 11 exclusively the provisions of the federal
     1 12 communications code and other federal laws affecting
     1 13 the implementation of broadband.  The committee
     1 14 shall>.
     1 15 #2.  Page 1, by striking lines 23 through 25 and
     1 16 inserting the following:  <minority leader of the
     1 17 house of representatives.  If the committee decides to
     1 18 issue a report on its review of federal law to the
     1 19 general assembly, the report shall be issued by
     1 20 January 15, 2010.>
     1 21 #3.  Title page, by striking lines 1 and 2 and
     1 22 inserting the following:  <An Act requesting the
     1 23 establishment of a statewide broadband policy
     1 24 development interim study committee.>
