1 1 Amend Senate File 2424, as passed by the Senate, as
1 2 follows:
1 3 #1. Page 31, by inserting after line 20 the
1 4 following:
1 5 <Sec. . Section 97B.80C, subsection 3, Code
1 6 2007, is amended by adding the following new
1 7 paragraph:
1 8 NEW PARAGRAPH. cc. For a member making
1 9 contributions for a purchase of permissive service
1 10 credit for qualified service as described in
1 11 subsection 1, paragraph "c", subparagraph (1),
1 12 subparagraph subdivision (h), in which, prior to July
1 13 1, 1998, the member received a refund of the member's
1 14 accumulated contributions and subsequently returned to
1 15 covered employment as a full=time employee for whom
1 16 coverage under this chapter was mandatory the member
1 17 shall receive a credit against the actuarial cost of
1 18 the service purchase equal to the amount of the
1 19 member's employer's accumulated contributions which
1 20 were not paid to the member as a refund pursuant to
1 21 section 97B.53 plus interest as calculated pursuant to
1 22 section 97B.70.>

1 24 following:
1 25 <Sec. Section 411.15, Code 2007, is amended to
1 26 read as follows:
1 27 411.15 HOSPITALIZATION AND MEDICAL ATTENTION.
1 28 Cities shall provide be responsible for any
1 29 hospital, nursing, and medical attention for the
1 30 members of the police and fire departments of the
1 31 cities, when injured while in the performance of their
1 32 duties as members of such department, and shall
1 33 continue to provide be responsible for any hospital,
1 34 nursing, and medical attention for injuries or
1 35 diseases incurred while in the performance of their
1 36 duties for members receiving a retirement allowance
1 37 under section 411.6, subsection 6. Cities may provide
1 38 fund the cost of the hospital, nursing, and medical
1 39 attention required by this section through the
1 40 purchase of insurance, by self=insuring the
1 41 obligation, or through payment of moneys into a local
1 42 government risk pool established for the purpose of
1 43 covering the costs associated with the requirements of
1 44 this section. However, the cost of the hospital,
1 45 nursing, and medical attention required by this
1 46 section shall not be funded through an employee=paid
1 47 health insurance policy. The cost of providing the
1 48 hospital, nursing, and medical attention required by
1 49 this section shall be paid from moneys held in a trust
1 50 and agency fund established pursuant to section 384.6,
2 1 or out of the appropriation for the department to
2 2 which the injured person belongs or belonged; provided
2 3 that any amounts received by the injured person under
2 4 the workers' compensation law of the state, or from
2 5 any other source for such specific purposes, shall be
2 6 deducted from the amount paid by the city under the
2 7 provisions of this section.>
