Section 257.31, subsection 5, 1 5 paragraph j, Code 2005, is amended to read as follows: 1 6 j. Unusual need to continue providing a program or 1 7 other special assistance to non=English speaking 1 8 pupils after the expiration of thethree=year1 9 four=year period specified in section 280.4. 1 10 Sec. . Section 280.4, subsection 3, Code 2005, 1 11 is amended to read as follows: 1 12 3. In order to provide funds for the excess costs 1 13 of instruction of limited English proficient students 1 14 above the costs of instruction of pupils in a regular 1 15 curriculum, students identified as limited English 1 16 proficient shall be assigned an additional weighting 1 17 of twenty=two hundredths, and that weighting shall be 1 18 included in the weighted enrollment of the school 1 19 district of residence for a period not exceedingthree1 20 four years. However, the school budget review 1 21 committee may grant supplemental aid or modified 1 22 allowable growth to a school district to continue 1 23 funding a program for students after the expiration of 1 24 thethree=yearfour=year period.> 1 25 #2.
