     1  1    Amend House File 718 as follows:
     1  2 #1.  Page 1, line 2, by striking the word
     1  3 <subsection> and inserting the following:
     1  4 <subsections>.
     1  5 #2.  Page 1, by inserting after line 15, the
     1  6 following:
     1  7    <NEW SUBSECTION.  6B.  If a lessee surrenders
     1  8 possession of a leased vehicle to the lessor prior to
     1  9 the expiration of the lease agreement, either because
     1 10 the lessee is leasing or purchasing another vehicle
     1 11 from the lessor or because the lessee is moving out of
     1 12 state, the lessor shall reimburse the lessee for the
     1 13 amount of unexpired vehicle registration fees,
     1 14 regardless of whether the lessor applies to the county
     1 15 treasurer for a credit under section 321.46 or a
     1 16 refund under this section.  The reimbursement shall be
     1 17 computed on the basis of the number of unexpired
     1 18 months remaining in the registration year from the
     1 19 date of surrender of possession of the vehicle to the
     1 20 lessor.>
     1 21 #3.  Title page, line 1, by striking the words
     1 22 <allowing a refund> and inserting the following:
     1 23 <providing for refunds>.
     1 24 #4.  Title page, line 2, by striking the words <a
     1 25 vehicle owner who moves out of state> and inserting
     1 26 the following:  <certain vehicle owners and lessees>.
     1 27 #5.  By renumbering as necessary.
