     1  1    Amend Senate File 2032 as follows:
     1  2 #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 15 the
     1  3 following:
     1  4    <Sec. __.  Section 321.299, Code 2003, is amended
     1  5 to read as follows:
     1  6    321.299  OVERTAKING A VEHICLE OR BICYCLE.
     1  7    The following rules shall govern the overtaking and
     1  8 passing of vehicles proceeding in the same direction,
     1  9 subject to those limitations, exceptions, and special
     1 10 rules hereinafter stated provided in this chapter:
     1 11    1.  The driver of a vehicle overtaking another
     1 12 vehicle proceeding in the same direction shall pass to
     1 13 the left thereof at a safe distance and shall not
     1 14 again drive to the right side of the roadway until
     1 15 safely clear of the overtaken vehicle.
     1 16    2.  Except when overtaking and passing on the right
     1 17 is permitted, the driver of an overtaken vehicle shall
     1 18 give way to the right in favor of the overtaking
     1 19 vehicle and shall not increase the speed of the
     1 20 overtaken vehicle until completely passed by the
     1 21 overtaking vehicle.
     1 22    3.  The driver of a vehicle overtaking a bicycle
     1 23 shall pass the bicycle at a distance of at least ten
     1 24 feet and shall not return to the right side of the
     1 25 roadway until safely clear of the overtaken bicycle.>
