1 37 <Sec. . NEW SECTION. 256G.1 SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY
1 38 FUND.
1 39 Moneys collected from admission fees by the racing
1 40 and gaming commission pursuant to sections 99D.14,
1 41 99F.4A, and 99F.10, and appropriated to the department
1 42 of education for the school technology fund in a
1 43 fiscal year, shall be allocated to school districts
1 44 and accredited nonpublic schools as follows:
1 45 1. To school districts in the proportion that the
1 46 basic enrollment of the school district bears to the
1 47 sum of the basic enrollments of all school districts
1 48 in the state.
1 49 2. For purposes of this section, the basic
1 50 enrollment of a school district shall include the
2 1 basic enrollment of a participating accredited
2 2 nonpublic school that certifies its actual enrollment
2 3 to the department of education by October 1 and the
2 4 department of education shall promptly forward the
2 5 information to the department of management. An
2 6 accredited nonpublic school's enrollment count shall
2 7 include only students who are residents of Iowa. The
2 8 department of education shall notify the school
2 9 district of the maximum allocation to be made to a
2 10 participating accredited nonpublic school located in
2 11 the school district. The school technology made
2 12 available shall only be used for purchasing
2 13 nonsectarian, nonreligious technology.
2 14 3. The costs of providing technology to
2 15 participating accredited nonpublic schools as provided
2 16 in this section shall not be included in the
2 17 computation of district cost under chapter 257, but
2 18 shall be shown in the budget as an expense from
2 19 miscellaneous income. Technology expenditures made in
2 20 accordance with this section shall be kept on file in
2 21 the school district.
2 22 4. A school technology fund is created in the
2 23 state treasury under the control of the department of
2 24 management. The department of management shall
2 25 allocate moneys from the fund to school districts and
2 26 accredited nonpublic schools pursuant to the
2 27 requirements of this section.>
