is
amended
by
adding
the
following

new
subparagraph
division:

on
school
premises

at
a
school-sponsored
activity
involving
students
while

under
the
influence
of,
possessing,
using,
or
consuming
illegal

drugs,
unauthorized
drugs,
or
alcohol.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
adds
to
the
list
of
disciplinary
actions
taken
11
against
a
licensed
school
employee
that
are
required
under
12
Code
section
272.15
to
be
reported
to
the
board
of
educational
13
examiners.

Currently,
the
boards
of
directors
of
school
districts
15
and
area
education
agencies,
the
superintendent
of
a
school
16
district,
the
chief
administrator
of
an
area
education
agency,
17
and
the
authorities
in
charge
of
an
accredited
nonpublic
school
18
must
report
to
the
board
of
educational
examiners
any
instance
19
of
disciplinary
action
taken
against
a
licensed
school
employee
20
by
such
boards,
administrators,
and
authorities,
for
certain
21
conduct
specified
in
the
Code
section.
The
bill
adds
to
the
22
list
being
on
school
premises
or
at
a
school-sponsored
activity
23
involving
students
while
under
the
influence
of,
possessing,
24
using,
or
consuming
illegal
drugs,
unauthorized
drugs,
or
25
alcohol.
