3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. STATE WELCOME SIGNS.
21. There is appropriated from the general fund of the
3state to the department of transportation for the fiscal year
4beginning July 1, 2021, and ending June 30, 2022, the following
5amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the
6purposes designated:
7For the removal and disposal of state welcome signs
8currently installed along highways, and the design, creation,
9purchase, and installation of new state welcome signs:

112. The design used for the new state welcome signs by the
12department of transportation shall be different and distinct
13from the design used for the currently installed state welcome
14signs. The department of transportation shall install the new
15state welcome signs in substantially the same locations from
16which currently installed welcome signs are removed.
17EXPLANATION
18The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
19the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
20This bill appropriates $350,000 from the general fund of
21the state to the department of transportation for the fiscal
22year beginning July 1, 2021, and ending June 30, 2022, for
23the removal and disposal of state welcome signs currently
24installed along highways, and the design, creation, purchase,
25and installation of new state welcome signs. The design used
26for the new state welcome signs must be different and distinct
27from the design used for the currently installed state welcome
28signs. The new state welcome signs must also be installed in
29substantially the same locations from which currently installed
30welcome signs are removed.
