I am sorry I am unable to attend the subcommittee meeting today.I had surgery a few days ago and my Dr is not allowing me to drive yet.As the lobbyist for the Iowa Firefighters Association we are register FOR this bill. This is a benefit that other states are giving to their volunteer firefighers. (Colorado and Illinois to name a few)Volunteer firefighters keep our communities and residents safe and do not receive compensation for their work. They are interrupted during family meals, childrens sports and music programs, holiday gatherings etc.to respond to emergency situations.Many firefighters use their personal vehicles to respond to a fire. Allowing them to get a new set of tires at the state discounted rate puts money directly into their pockets. Best of all, it does not cost the state anything.This will also be part of a recruitment and retention benefit for firefighters.Thank you for listening and we hope you will support HF 418!Feel free to call us if you have questions.Cyndi & John Pederson5152294748
