As a teacher, I appreciate this bill as it protects the children and the teacher. Children are traumatized by severely physically violent students which affects their learning. If a student has a physically violent outburst, they should be removed and given an opportunity to calm themselves. The student should also be given an opportunity to learn how to redirect the physical aggresive behaviors. This bill also encourages a cooperation with the resource officer and teacher.

I support this bill. This bill will protect our teachers in a lot of ways. Behaviors have gotten out of hand in the schools and our poor teachers struggle to get any teaching done because of it. Please move this bill forward.

Please support this bill to protect teachers and students from behavioral issues happening too often in the classroom. This has been a growing issue that teachers do not feel supported by admin to properly deal with behavioral issues in the classroom. My student in their first year in Iowa, told me of a story where a 2nd grade classmate had a violent outburst, was nearly hit with a chair and how the class had to evacuate the room while the kid continued to destroy property in the classroom. The policies in our previous state would never allow this to occur. An SRO or designated staff would immediately remove the disruptive student from the class. Students need to learn boundaries and teachers need to feel safe in their workplace.
