225.15 Examination and treatment.

When the respondent arrives at the state psychiatric hospital it shall be the duty of the admitting physician to examine the respondent and determine whether or not, in the physician's judgment, the patient is a fit subject for such observation, treatment and hospital care. If, upon examination, the physician decides that such patient should be admitted to the hospital, the patient shall be provided a proper bed in the hospital; and the physician who shall have charge of the patient shall proceed with such observation, medical treatment, and hospital care as in the physician's judgment are proper and necessary, in compliance with sections 229.13 to 229.16.

A proper and competent nurse shall also be assigned to look after and care for such patient during such observation, treatment, and care as aforesaid.
