When used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:
1. "Administrator" means the administrator of the division of mental health and developmental disabilities of the department of human services.
2. "Hospital-schools" means the Glenwood state hospital-school and the Woodward state hospital-school.
3. "Mental retardation" or "mentally retarded" means a term or terms to describe children and adults who as a result of inadequately developed intelligence are significantly impaired in ability to learn or to adapt to the demands of society.
4. "Special unit" means a special mental retardation unit established at a state mental health institute pursuant to sections 222.88 to 222.91.
5. "Superintendents" means the superintendents of the state hospital-schools.
