1 2 BY (PROPOSED COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT
1 3 RESOLUTION BY CHAIRPERSON LUNDBY)
1 4 A Concurrent Resolution expressing the appreciation
1 5 of the Eightieth General Assembly to the membership
1 6 of the Program Elimination Commission for their
1 7 efforts on behalf of the people of Iowa.
1 8 WHEREAS, the members of the Program Elimination Commission
1 9 were charged with the extremely difficult task of reviewing
1 10 all programs and other functions funded in whole or in part
1 11 with state or local government revenue; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the members were primarily citizen volunteers,
1 13 serving without compensation or reimbursement of expenses; and
1 14 WHEREAS, the Commission had an intense schedule, meeting
1 15 eleven times from September to December 2002, attending to
1 16 numerous other related meetings and conversations in regard to
1 17 Commission deliberations, and contributing many hours of
1 18 research and writing; and
1 19 WHEREAS, the Commission report includes wide-ranging
1 20 proposals for improving the financing and functioning of
1 21 Iowa's state and local public services; NOW THEREFORE,
1 22 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
1 23 CONCURRING, That on behalf of the people of the State of Iowa,
1 24 the Eightieth General Assembly expresses its sincere
1 25 appreciation to the members of the Program Elimination
1 26 Commission for their remarkable dedication and service; and
1 27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate
1 28 shall provide an official copy of this resolution to the
1 29 members of the Program Elimination Commission: Mr. Bob
1 30 Rafferty of West Des Moines, Chairperson, Senator Mike
1 31 Connolly of Dubuque, Ms. Diane Crookham-Johnson of Oskaloosa,
1 32 Mr. Mark Ketchum of Lake City, the Honorable Ralph F.
1 33 McCartney of Charles City, Ms. Virginia Petersen of Johnston,
1 34 Senator Neal Schuerer of Amana, and Mr. Arthur Small, Jr. of
1 35 Iowa City.
