  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  714.2A  THEFT USING EMERGENCY
  1  2 EXIT – PENALTIES.
  1  3    A theft shall be classified one degree higher than the
  1  4 underlying theft offense under section 714.2, if the person
  1  5 uses a door designated as an emergency exit to escape from the
  1  6 scene or to further the commission of the intended theft.  
  1  7                           EXPLANATION
  1  8    This bill relates to using an emergency exit to facilitate
  1  9 a theft.
  1 10    The bill reclassifies a theft offense one degree higher
  1 11 than the underlying theft charge, if a person uses a door
  1 12 designated as an emergency exit to escape from the scene or to
  1 13 further the commission of the intended theft.
