1 3 A Resolution recognizing the achievements of the
1 4 Urbandale Junior League All Star Team in winning the
1 5 Central Regional Championship of the 2003 Junior
1 6 League Baseball World Series.
1 7 WHEREAS, the Urbandale Junior League All Star Team
1 8 was the Central Regional Champion of the 2003 Junior
1 9 League Baseball World Series, defeating teams from
1 10 Iowa and many other Midwest states en route to winning
1 11 the championship; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the Urbandale Junior League All Star Team
1 13 brought distinction to this state by displaying a high
1 14 degree of teamwork, discipline, and effort in
1 15 achieving an overall record of 15 wins and 4 losses
1 16 during the regulation and exhibition phases of the
1 17 competition; and
1 18 WHEREAS, the Urbandale Junior League All Star Team
1 19 was the first team from the state of Iowa to advance
1 20 to the Junior League Baseball World Series phase of
1 21 the competition, placing the Iowa flag on championship
1 22 hill of the stadium along with the flags of other
1 23 states and nations, and this achievement has earned
1 24 the Iowa flag a permanent presence on championship
1 25 hill of future Junior League Baseball World Series
1 26 competitions; NOW THEREFORE,
1 27 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
1 28 salutes the Urbandale Junior League All Star Team
1 29 members and coaches for their achievements in the 2003
1 30 Junior League Baseball World Series; and
2 1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Senate expresses
2 2 appreciation to the team for representing the best
2 3 qualities of Iowans while competing with teams from
2 4 other states and nations; and
2 5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 6 this Resolution be prepared and presented to the
2 7 Urbandale Junior League All Star Team.
