1 2 BY KIBBIE, WARNSTADT, TINSMAN, ZIEMAN, SIEVERS,
1 3 VEENSTRA, JOHNSON, SCHUERER, DEARDEN, WARD,
1 4 RAGAN, CONNOLLY, DRAKE, and COURTNEY
1 5 A Resolution urging increased resources to ensure
1 6 greater access to health care for veterans.
1 7 WHEREAS, those persons who have served in the
1 8 nation's armed forces should be honored for their
1 9 service; and
1 10 WHEREAS, many Iowa veterans are being denied
1 11 effective access to effective medical care as
1 12 evidenced by delays in fulfilling appointments and in
1 13 accessing veterans administration services; and
1 14 WHEREAS, thousands of veterans are waiting for
1 15 access to prescription drug benefits; and
1 16 WHEREAS, effective and prompt access to health care
1 17 benefits is a promise that must be kept to our
1 18 nation's veterans; NOW THEREFORE,
1 19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the federal
1 20 government be strongly urged to immediately fulfill
1 21 its promise to veterans in Iowa and across the country
1 22 by providing veterans greater access to health care,
1 23 including the ability to access health care and needed
1 24 prescription drugs at their local hospitals, medical
1 25 clinics, and pharmacies; and
1 26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of
1 27 this Resolution, duly authenticated by the Secretary
1 28 of the Senate, be transmitted to each member of the
1 29 Iowa congressional delegation.
