1 4 COURTNEY, KIBBIE, GRONSTAL, CONNOLLY,
1 5 DVORSKY, HORN, FRAISE, DEARDEN,
1 6 McCOY, SENG, WARNSTADT, and BLACK
1 7 A Resolution to encourage the expansion of the
1 8 Iowa priority prescription savings program.
1 9 WHEREAS, the Iowa priority prescription savings
1 10 program was formed in July 2001 through an alliance of
1 11 consumers, pharmacists, physicians, and Medicare-
1 12 eligible individuals to provide safe, effective, and
1 13 affordable prescription drugs to Medicare-eligible
1 14 Iowans; and
1 15 WHEREAS, the Iowa priority prescription savings
1 16 program is offered through the not-for-profit Iowa
1 17 prescription drug corporation, which is located in
1 18 Iowa, thereby enabling easy access to members; and
1 19 WHEREAS, in addition to Medicare-eligible
1 20 individuals, many low-income parents lack prescription
1 21 drug coverage; and
1 22 WHEREAS, the framework of the Iowa priority
1 23 prescription savings program could be expanded to
1 24 include other groups; NOW THEREFORE,
1 25 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Iowa
1 26 prescription drug corporation is encouraged to expand
1 27 the Iowa priority prescription savings program to
1 28 include the parents of children who are participating
1 29 in the medical assistance or healthy and well kids in
1 30 Iowa program.
