1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY DVORSKY, BOLKCOM, and GRONSTAL
1 3 A Resolution honoring Minority Leader Richard E.
1 4 Myers of the House of Representatives.
1 5 WHEREAS, Minority Leader Richard E. Myers of the
1 6 House of Representatives will retire from legislative
1 7 office at the end of this year after completing nearly
1 8 10 years in office as a member of the House of
1 9 Representatives; and
1 10 WHEREAS, Representative Myers' distinguished career
1 11 as a state legislator has included service as an
1 12 Assistant Minority Leader in the 1996 Session of the
1 13 Seventy-Sixth General Assembly and in the Seventy-
1 14 Seventh General Assembly and as the Minority Whip in
1 15 the Seventy-Eighth General Assembly and in the 2000
1 16 Session of the Seventy-Ninth General Assembly; and
1 17 WHEREAS, Representative Myers' legislative career
1 18 has culminated in his service as Minority Leader in
1 19 the 2001 Session of the Seventy-Ninth General Assembly
1 20 and in the 2002 Session of the Eightieth General
1 21 Assembly; and
1 22 WHEREAS, Representative Myers' legislative career
1 23 has also included service as Ranking Member of the
1 24 Local Government Committee and as a member of the
1 25 Administration and Rules Committee; and
1 26 WHEREAS, Representative Myers has served on many
1 27 other standing committees and appropriations
1 28 subcommittees throughout his years of legislative
1 29 service and has been an influential and devoted
1 30 legislator is this state; and
2 1 WHEREAS, Representative Myers has been instrumental
2 2 in the passage of legislation relating to all aspects
2 3 of state and local government, capitalizing on his
2 4 past service at the local government level as Mayor of
2 5 the City of Coralville and as a member of the Board of
2 6 Supervisors for Johnson County; and
2 7 WHEREAS, Representative Myers has served honorably
2 8 and has unselfishly given of his time and efforts to
2 9 further the interests of the State of Iowa and to
2 10 provide beneficial programs for the citizens of Iowa;
2 11 NOW THEREFORE,
2 12 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate pay
2 13 tribute to House Minority Leader Myers for his devoted
2 14 service to the Iowa General Assembly and the citizens
2 15 of this state and wish him the very best in the years
2 16 ahead; and
2 17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 18 this Resolution be prepared and presented to House
2 19 Minority Leader Myers.
