1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 321.324B HORSEBACK RIDERS.
1 2 In addition to the duty to reduce speed when approaching
1 3 and passing an animal being ridden on a public highway under
1 4 section 321.288, the driver of a motor vehicle shall yield the
1 5 right-of-way to a person on horseback who is riding along or
1 6 across the roadway. A violation of this section is a simple
1 7 misdemeanor punishable as a scheduled violation under section
1 8 805.8A, subsection 6, paragraph "c".
1 9 Sec. 2. Section 805.8A, subsection 6, paragraph c, Code
1 10 2003, is amended to read as follows:
1 11 c. For violations under sections 321.288, 321.297,
1 12 321.299, 321.303, 321.304, subsections 1 and 2, sections
1 13 321.305, 321.306, 321.311, 321.312, 321.314, 321.323,
1 14 321.324B, 321.340, 321.353, 321.354, and 321.395, the
1 15 scheduled fine is thirty-five dollars.
1 16 EXPLANATION
1 17 This bill requires that the driver of a motor vehicle yield
1 18 the right-of-way to a person on horseback riding along or
1 19 across a roadway. A violator is subject to a scheduled fine
1 20 of $35.
