1 1 Section 1. Section 483A.24, Code 2003, is amended by
1 2 adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 15. Upon written application, on forms
1 4 furnished by the department, the department shall issue
1 5 annually without fee one deer license to the owner of a parcel
1 6 of land that is comprised of seventy-six or more contiguous
1 7 acres. The deer license shall be valid only on the parcel of
1 8 land for which an applicant qualifies pursuant to this
1 9 subsection and shall be equivalent to the least restrictive
1 10 license issued under section 481A.38. The owner need not
1 11 reside on the parcel of land to qualify for the free license
1 12 under this subsection. The license shall be valid during all
1 13 shotgun deer seasons. This license shall be issued in
1 14 addition to a depredation permit issued to a landowner
1 15 pursuant to section 481C.2.
1 16 EXPLANATION
1 17 This bill allows the department of natural resources to
1 18 issue annually one free deer license to a landowner who owns
1 19 76 or more acres of contiguous land. This license is issued
1 20 in addition to a depredation permit issued to a landowner
1 21 pursuant to Code section 481C.2.
