  1  1          SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.    
  1  2          BY  COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT
  1  3                 (SUCCESSOR TO SSB 1112)
  1  4 A Concurrent Resolution expressing the appreciation
  1  5    of the Eightieth General Assembly to the membership
  1  6    of the Program Elimination Commission for their
  1  7    efforts on behalf of the people of Iowa.
  1  8    WHEREAS, the members of the Program Elimination
  1  9 Commission were charged with the extremely difficult
  1 10 task of reviewing all programs and other functions
  1 11 funded in whole or in part with state or local
  1 12 government revenue; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, the members were primarily citizen
  1 14 volunteers, serving without compensation or
  1 15 reimbursement of expenses; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, the Commission had an intense schedule,
  1 17 meeting eleven times from September to December 2002,
  1 18 attending to numerous other related meetings and
  1 19 conversations in regard to Commission deliberations,
  1 20 and contributing many hours of research and writing;
  1 21 and
  1 22    WHEREAS, the Commission report includes wide-
  1 23 ranging proposals for improving the financing and
  1 24 functioning of Iowa's state and local public services;
  1 25 NOW THEREFORE,
  1 26    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF
  1 27 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, That on behalf of the
  1 28 people of the State of Iowa, the Eightieth General
  1 29 Assembly expresses its sincere appreciation to the
  1 30 members of the Program Elimination Commission for
  2  1 their remarkable dedication and service; and
  2  2    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the
  2  3 Senate shall provide an official copy of this
  2  4 resolution to the members of the Program Elimination
  2  5 Commission:  Mr. Bob Rafferty of West Des Moines,
  2  6 Chairperson, Senator Mike Connolly of Dubuque, Ms.
  2  7 Diane Crookham-Johnson of Oskaloosa, Mr. Mark Ketchum
  2  8 of Lake City, the Honorable Ralph F. McCartney of
  2  9 Charles City, Ms. Virginia Petersen of Johnston,
  2 10 Senator Neal Schuerer of Amana, and Mr. Arthur Small,
  2 11 Jr. of Iowa City.
