1 1 Amend Senate File 2177, as amended, passed, and
1 2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
1 3 #1. Page 2, by striking lines 4 through 17 and
1 4 inserting the following: "school and its employees
1 5 are to incur no liability, except for gross
1 6 negligence, as a result of any injury arising from
1 7 self-administration of medication by the student. The
1 8 parent or guardian of the student shall sign a
1 9 statement acknowledging that the school district or
1 10 nonpublic school is to incur no liability, except for
1 11 gross negligence, as a result of self-administration
1 12 of medication by the student. A school district or
1 13 accredited nonpublic school and its employees acting
1 14 reasonably and in good faith shall incur no liability
1 15 for any improper use of medication as defined in this
1 16 section or for supervising, monitoring, or interfering
1 17 with a student's self-administration of medication as
1 18 defined in this section."
1 19 #2. Page 2, by inserting after line 34 the
1 20 following:
1 21 "7. The Iowa braille and sight saving school, the
1 22 state school for the deaf, and the institutions under
1 23 the control of the department of human services as
1 24 provided in section 218.1 are exempt from the
1 25 provisions of this section."
1 26 #3. By renumbering, relettering, or redesignating
1 27 and correcting internal references as necessary.
