1 1 Amend the amendment, S-3392, to House File 683, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the House, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 2, by inserting after line 28 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "STATE COMMISSIONER OF ELECTIONS
1 7 Sec. . There is appropriated from the rebuild
1 8 Iowa infrastructure fund to the state commissioner of
1 9 elections for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2003,
1 10 and ending June 30, 2004, the following amounts, or so
1 11 much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the
1 12 purposes designated:
1 13 1. For the purchase and installation of voting
1 14 machines, notwithstanding section 8.57, subsection 5,
1 15 paragraph "c":
1 16 .................................................. $ 1,263,000
1 17 2. To provide for the maintenance of effort
1 18 requirements of the federal Help America Vote Act of
1 19 2002, Pub. L. No. 107-252, notwithstanding section
1 20 8.57, subsection 5, paragraph "c":
1 21 .................................................. $ 78,916
1 22 The state commissioner of elections shall report to
1 23 the general assembly regarding the expenditure of the
1 24 moneys appropriated in this section by January 2,
1 25 2004, and July 1, 2004."
