  1  1    Amend the House amendment, S-3347, to Senate File
  1  2 452, as amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate,
  1  3 as follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 44 the
  1  5 following:
  1  6    "#   .  Page 6, by inserting before line 8 the
  1  7 following:  
  1  8            "STATE COMMISSIONER OF ELECTIONS
  1  9    Sec.    .  There is appropriated from the rebuild
  1 10 Iowa infrastructure fund to the state commissioner of
  1 11 elections for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2003,
  1 12 and ending June 30, 2004, the following amount, or so
  1 13 much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the
  1 14 purpose designated:
  1 15    For the purchase and installation of voting
  1 16 machines, notwithstanding section 8.57, subsection 5,
  1 17 paragraph "c":  
  1 18 .................................................. $  1,263,000
  1 19    The state commissioner of elections shall report to
  1 20 the general assembly regarding the expenditure of the
  1 21 moneys appropriated in this section by January 2,
  1 22 2004, and July 1, 2004.""
