1 1 Amend Senate File 440 as follows:
1 2 #1. By striking everything after the enacting
1 3 clause and inserting the following:
1 4 "Section 1. NONPUBLIC SCHOOL TEXTBOOK AND
1 5 TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE. There is appropriated from
1 6 the general fund of the state to the department of
1 7 education for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2003,
1 8 and ending June 30, 2004, the following amounts, or so
1 9 much thereof as may be necessary, to be used for the
1 10 purposes designated:
1 11 1. NONPUBLIC SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS
1 12 To provide funds for costs of providing textbooks
1 13 to each resident pupil who attends a nonpublic school
1 14 as authorized by Code section 301.1:
1 15 .................................................. $ 590,458
1 16 2. NONPUBLIC SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION COSTS
1 17 To provide funds for payment of nonpublic school
1 18 transportation claims pursuant to section 285.2, or
1 19 for reimbursement of nonpublic school transportation
1 20 expenses pursuant to section 285.3:

1 22 #2. Title page, by striking lines 1 and 2 and
1 23 inserting the following: "An Act making an
1 24 appropriation for nonpublic school textbook and
