1 1 Amend Senate File 300 as follows:
1 2 #1. Page 26, by inserting after line 18 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "Sec. . PROGRAM FUNDING AND OPERATION.
1 5 Notwithstanding the provisions of chapter 321N, as
1 6 enacted in this Act, fees collected by the department
1 7 of natural resources from the registration of off-
1 8 highway vehicles, as required in this Act, shall be
1 9 deposited in the off-highway vehicle fund created in
1 10 section 321N.5 and allowed to accumulate without
1 11 expenditure until the department begins operation of
1 12 the state's off-highway vehicle program. When
1 13 revenues in the fund are sufficient to cover the
1 14 operational costs of the off-highway vehicle program,
1 15 the department shall begin operation of the program.
1 16 For purposes of this section, "operation of the
1 17 program" includes, but is not limited to, purchasing
1 18 land for use by off-highway vehicles, initiating a
1 19 safety certificate program, and employing part-time or
1 20 full-time employees to administer the off-highway
1 21 vehicle fund and its functions."
