1 6 Sec. . NEW SECTION. 15E.18 CITIES, COUNTIES,
1 7 AND REGIONS – SITE PREPARATION FOR TARGETED ECONOMIC
1 8 DEVELOPMENT.
1 9 1. For purposes of this section, "region" means a
1 10 group of two or more contiguous counties that
1 11 establishes a single, focused economic development
1 12 effort.
1 13 2. A city, county, or region, subject to the
1 14 approval of the property owner, may designate an area
1 15 within the boundaries of the city, county, or region
1 16 for a specific type of targeted economic development.
1 17 The specific type of targeted economic development
1 18 shall be one of the following:
1 19 a. Manufacturing.
1 20 b. Light industrial.
1 21 c. Warehouse and distribution.
1 22 d. Office parks.
1 23 e. Business and commerce parks.
1 24 f. Research and development.
1 25 3. A city, county, or region that designates an
1 26 area for a specific type of targeted economic
1 27 development may apply to the department for purposes
1 28 of certifying the area as a preapproved development
1 29 site. The department shall develop criteria for the
1 30 certification process.
1 31 4. Prior to a specific project being developed, a
1 32 city, county, or region designating the area for
1 33 targeted economic development pursuant to this section
1 34 may apply for and obtain appropriate licenses,
1 35 permits, and approvals for the type of targeted
1 36 economic development project desired for the area."
1 37 #2. Title page, by striking lines 7 and 8 and
1 38 inserting the following: "regulatory requirements,
1 39 public project contractor requirements, and economic
1 40 development."
1 41 #3. By renumbering as necessary.
