1 1 Section 1. STUDY OF REVENUE. By December 15, 2004, the
1 2 department of economic development and the department of
1 3 revenue shall file a joint report with the governor and the
1 4 general assembly identifying new sources of revenue for the
1 5 state that do not have a negative impact on economic growth in
1 6 the state and use the revenues to reduce taxes in areas that
1 7 are identified to have a negative impact on economic growth
1 8 for the state. The new sources of revenue identified shall
1 9 not exceed in dollar amount the reduction in taxes identified
1 10 as having a negative impact on economic growth.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill relates to a study identifying sources of revenue
1 13 for the state. The bill requires, by December 15, 2004, the
1 14 department of economic development and the department of
1 15 revenue to file a joint report with the governor and the
1 16 general assembly identifying new sources of revenue for the
1 17 state that do not have a negative impact on economic growth in
1 18 the state and use the revenues to reduce taxes in areas that
1 19 are identified to have a negative impact on economic growth
1 20 for the state. The bill provides that the new sources of
1 21 revenue identified shall not exceed in dollar amount the
1 22 reduction in taxes identified as having a negative impact on
1 23 economic growth.
