PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 499.30A, subsection 4, unnumbered 1 2 paragraph 1, Code 2003, is amended to read as follows: 1 3AnyA disbursement having an aggregate value of fifty 1 4 dollars or more that is retained by the cooperative 1 5 association shall be forfeited to the cooperative association 1 6 only if the cooperative association publishes at least one 1 7 notice of the abandoned property in a publication regularly 1 8 distributed to its membership or in a newspaper having a 1 9 general circulation in the county where the cooperative 1 10 association is located. The notice shall include all of the 1 11 following: 1 12 EXPLANATION 1 13 This bill requires a cooperative association to publish a 1 14 notice regarding the retention of a person's abandoned 1 15 disbursement property, such as stock or other equity, by the 1 16 cooperative association where the amount of disbursement is 1 17 equal to or greater than $50. Under current law, a 1 18 cooperative association must publish a notice regarding all 1 19 abandoned property retained by the cooperative regardless of 1 20 value. 1 21 LSB 5314HC 80 1 22 kk/cf/24
