1 1 Section 1. Section 8A.454, Code Supplement 2003, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 2A. A monthly per contract administrative
1 4 charge shall be assessed by the department on all health
1 5 insurance plans administered by the department for the benefit
1 6 of retired state employees or their survivors. The amount of
1 7 the administrative charge shall not exceed two dollars per
1 8 contract per month. Any amount collected pursuant to this
1 9 subsection shall be deposited in the fund.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill amends Code section 8A.454 to establish a monthly
1 12 per contract administrative charge on all health insurance
1 13 plans administered by the department of administrative
1 14 services for the benefit of retired state employees or their
1 15 survivors. The amount of the charge is limited to a maximum
1 16 of $2 per month. Any amounts collected are to be deposited in
1 17 the Iowa state health insurance administration fund for use in
1 18 administering the health insurance program.
