1 5 Sec. 2. 2000 Iowa Acts, chapter 1189, section 33, as
1 6 amended by 2001 Iowa Acts, chapter 34, section 2, as amended
1 7 by 2002 Iowa Acts, chapter 1106, section 2, is repealed.
1 8 EXPLANATION
1 9 This bill repeals previous enactments relating to the
1 10 uniform computer information transaction Act that would repeal
1 11 a choice-of-law provision in Code section 554D.104, the
1 12 uniform electronic transactions Act. The provision makes
1 13 voidable any choice-of-law provision that provides that the
1 14 contract is to be interpreted pursuant to the laws of a state
1 15 that has enacted the uniform computer information transactions
1 16 Act, and provides that if the party against whom enforcement
1 17 is sought is a resident of this state, the contract shall be
1 18 interpreted according to the laws of this state.
1 19 The bill also repeals previous enactments expressing the
1 20 intent of the general assembly to consider the uniform
1 21 computer information transactions Act during the 2003 regular
1 22 session.
