  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  455B.186A  REMOVED NITRATES.
  1  2    A public water supply system that removes nitrates from
  1  3 water shall not discharge the removed nitrates into any water
  1  4 of the state.  
  1  5                           EXPLANATION
  1  6    This bill relates to the discharge of nitrates into any
  1  7 water of the state.
  1  8    The bill prohibits a public water supply system that
  1  9 removes nitrates from water from discharging the removed
  1 10 nitrates into any water of the state.  A person violating this
  1 11 provision is subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $5,000
  1 12 for each day of the violation.
