PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 18.120, Code 2003, is amended to read 1 2 as follows: 1 3 18.120 REPLACEMENT FUND. 1 41.The state fleet administrator shall maintain a 1 5 depreciation fund for the purchase of replacement motor 1 6 vehicles and additions to the fleet. The state fleet 1 7 administrator's records shall show the total funds deposited 1 8 by and credited to each department or agency thereof. At the 1 9 end of each month, the state fleet administrator shall render 1 10 a statement to each state department or agency thereof for 1 11 additions to the fleet and total depreciation credited to that 1 12 department or agency. Such depreciation expense shall be paid 1 13 by the state departments or agencies in the same manner as 1 14 other expenses of such department are paid, and shall be 1 15 deposited in the depreciation fund to the credit of the 1 16 department or agency thereof. The funds credited to each 1 17 department or agency thereof shall remain the property of the 1 18 department or agency. However, at the end of each biennium, 1 19 the state fleet administrator shall cause to revert to the 1 20 fund from which it accumulated any unassigned depreciation. 1 212. The department of corrections is not obligated to pay1 22the depreciation expense otherwise required by this section.1 23 EXPLANATION 1 24 This bill requires the department of corrections to pay 1 25 vehicle depreciation expenses, to be deposited in a fund 1 26 maintained by the state fleet administrator and credited to 1 27 the department of corrections for the purchase of motor 1 28 vehicles. Currently, of the state agencies required to obtain 1 29 vehicles through the state fleet administrator, the department 1 30 of corrections is the only department not obligated to make 1 31 such payments. 1 32 LSB 1268DP 80 1 33 dea/cf/24.1
