1 3 RESOLUTION BY CHAIRPERSON VAN ENGELENHOVEN)
1 4 A Concurrent Resolution requesting that the
1 5 legislative council create an interim study
1 6 committee to study the feasibility of making
1 7 the offices of city and county assessor elective
1 8 offices.
1 9 WHEREAS, the office of assessor, by virtue of its
1 10 duties, is often subject to scrutiny by the public;
1 11 and
1 12 WHEREAS, the duty of the office of assessor
1 13 relating to assessment of property for property
1 14 taxation purposes often has political ramifications;
1 15 NOW THEREFORE,
1 16 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
1 17 SENATE CONCURRING, That the legislative council is
1 18 requested to create an interim study committee for the
1 19 2003 interim. If created, the committee should be
1 20 directed to study the feasibility of making the
1 21 offices of city and county assessor elective offices.
1 22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, if created, the
1 23 interim study committee should consist of five members
1 24 from the senate and five members from the house of
1 25 representatives.
