1 21 A Resolution to recognize and honor the members of the
1 22 Iowa Army and Air National Guard.
1 23 WHEREAS, the Army and Air National Guard contribute
1 24 significant numbers of soldiers and airmen to the
1 25 defense capability of the United States and are
1 26 vitally important to our national security; and
1 27 WHEREAS, Iowa National Guard members accept their
1 28 role as defenders of our people's freedoms and rights,
1 29 and continue to meet and exceed the readiness
1 30 standards; and
2 1 WHEREAS, Iowa National Guard members have been
2 2 called to every major war and conflict our country has
2 3 been involved in since Iowa became a state in 1846;
2 4 and
2 5 WHEREAS, Iowa's citizen-soldiers are continually on
2 6 the vigil and ready to respond when called for a war
2 7 or national emergency, or to protect the citizens of
2 8 Iowa when disasters and emergencies occur within our
2 9 state's borders; and
2 10 WHEREAS, Iowa National Guard members continue to
2 11 demonstrate their professionalism, dedication, and
2 12 skills, as well as their patriotism and love for their
2 13 country and the liberties, freedoms, and rights that
2 14 it stands for as they mobilize in record numbers to
2 15 support Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring
2 16 Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the global war
2 17 on terrorism; and
2 18 WHEREAS, Iowa National Guard members have
2 19 established themselves as well-led, well-trained,
2 20 motivated, and prepared to accomplish their missions
2 21 in worldwide locations as they endure separation from
2 22 their homes and family relationships and obligations,
2 23 and missed special family occasions as they fulfill
2 24 their assignments; and
2 25 WHEREAS, the actions of the Iowa National Guard
2 26 reflect great credit upon all the people of the State
2 27 of Iowa; NOW THEREFORE,
2 28 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 29 That the House of Representatives recognizes and
2 30 honors the members of the Iowa Army and Air National
3 1 Guard for their dedication and outstanding performance
3 2 of duty, and the House of Representatives expresses
3 3 its appreciation to the families of Iowa National
3 4 Guard members.
