1 2 BY DANDEKAR
1 3 A Resolution honoring the Kirkwood Community College
1 4 Women's Volleyball Team.
1 5 WHEREAS, the fans of the Kirkwood Community College
1 6 Eagles and the citizens of Iowa are greatly pleased
1 7 that the Kirkwood Women's Volleyball Team had a
1 8 spectacular regular season leading to its capture of
1 9 the National Junior College Athletic Association
1 10 (NJCAA) Region XI Volleyball Championship; and
1 11 WHEREAS, the Kirkwood Women's Volleyball Team made
1 12 its fans and all Iowans proud by also advancing to and
1 13 winning the NJCAA Division II National Championship on
1 14 November 15, 2003; and
1 15 WHEREAS, the Kirkwood Community College Women's
1 16 Volleyball Team proved its strength and resiliency by
1 17 consistently overcoming point deficits and by its
1 18 solid offense and tough defensive play throughout its
1 19 regular season and the national tournament; and
1 20 WHEREAS, individual athletes on the team have been
1 21 honored by being named NJCAA National Tournament Most
1 22 Valuable Player as well as being named to the All-
1 23 Tournament Team, All-Region Team, and All-Region
1 24 Second Team, and have received Honorable Mention for
1 25 the All-Region Team; and
1 26 WHEREAS, the national tournament crown is the first
1 27 for Eagles Head Coach DeAnn Woodin, who was also
1 28 awarded her first NJCAA Division II National Coach of
1 29 the Year Award; NOW THEREFORE,
1 30 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 1 That the House of Representatives congratulates Coach
2 2 DeAnn Woodin and the Kirkwood Community College
2 3 Women's Volleyball Team on their successful season and
2 4 thanks them for the honor and excitement they brought
2 5 to the State of Iowa; and
2 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the
2 7 Chief Clerk of the House shall cause an enrolled copy
2 8 of this Resolution to be prepared for presentation to
2 9 Coach DeAnn Woodin and the Kirkwood Community College
2 10 Women's Volleyball team.
