1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY BERRY, SHOULTZ, and JENKINS
1 3 A Resolution honoring the East Waterloo High School
1 4 Boys' Basketball Team.
1 5 WHEREAS, the fans of the East Waterloo High School
1 6 Boys' Basketball Team and the citizens of Iowa have
1 7 enjoyed the team's exciting season leading up to the
1 8 state tournament; and
1 9 WHEREAS, the East Waterloo Boys' Basketball Team
1 10 demonstrated an exceptional combination of talent,
1 11 tenacity, and team spirit that earned them the right
1 12 to compete in the 2003 Iowa Boys' State High School
1 13 Basketball Tournament; and
1 14 WHEREAS, the East Waterloo Boys' Basketball Team
1 15 survived the four-round tournament to win the Class 4A
1 16 championship game by a decisive score of 72-52; and
1 17 WHEREAS, the East Waterloo team made its fans
1 18 particularly proud by earning the Class 4A
1 19 sportsmanship award; and
1 20 WHEREAS, the team's accomplishment was further
1 21 enhanced when two of its players were named to the
1 22 all-tournament team; and
1 23 WHEREAS, the tournament win also signaled a
1 24 milestone in the career of Coach Steve McGraw,
1 25 bringing him his 500th career victory and his second
1 26 East Waterloo state championship; and
1 27 WHEREAS, by their impressive effort throughout the
1 28 basketball season and their outstanding performance at
1 29 the 2003 state tournament, the individual members of
1 30 the East Waterloo Boys' Basketball Team have
2 1 demonstrated the kind of character and competitive
2 2 spirit valued by their high school, their community,
2 3 and the State of Iowa; NOW THEREFORE,
2 4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 5 That the Iowa House of Representatives congratulates
2 6 Coach Steve McGraw and the members of the East
2 7 Waterloo High School Boys' Basketball Team on their
2 8 successful season and thanks them for the honor and
2 9 excitement they brought to their fans and the rest of
2 10 the citizens of the State of Iowa; and
2 11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage of this
2 12 Resolution, the Chief Clerk of the House of
2 13 Representatives shall prepare a copy of the enrolled
2 14 Resolution for presentation to Coach Steve McGraw and
2 15 the East Waterloo High School Boys' Basketball Team.
