1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY HEATON
1 3 A Resolution requesting the transition planning group
1 4 established by the Department of Human Services to
1 5 complete deliberations and deliver a final report
1 6 prior to adjournment of the Eightieth General
1 7 Assembly, 2003 Regular Session.
1 8 WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services has
1 9 convened a work group to address the recommendations
1 10 in the report issued on January 14, 2003, by the
1 11 Office of the Citizens' Aide regarding the
1 12 investigation into the transitioning of Reggie Kelsey
1 13 out of Iowa's foster care system and providing other
1 14 proposals to address the needs of youth who are
1 15 transitioning from court-ordered supervision to
1 16 adulthood; and
1 17 WHEREAS, the membership of the work group includes
1 18 persons representing the Department of Human Services,
1 19 juvenile court, Department of Education, teachers and
1 20 area education agency staff involved with special
1 21 education, placement and service providers involved
1 22 with child welfare, mental health, and developmental
1 23 disabilities services, and other knowledgeable
1 24 persons; NOW THEREFORE,
1 25 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 26 That the House of Representatives expresses
1 27 appreciation for the efforts of the work group members
1 28 and requests that the work group issue a report on the
1 29 important topics addressed by the work group to the
1 30 Governor and the General Assembly prior to the
2 1 adjournment of the Eightieth General Assembly, 2003
2 2 Regular Session.
