  1  5 RELATING TO THE PERFORMANCE OF A NOTARIAL ACT BY A CHIEF
  1  6    OFFICER WHEN CERTIFYING A UNIFORM CITATION AND COMPLAINT
  1  7    UNDER OATH, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

  1  9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1 10 
  1 11    Section 1.  Section 9E.6A, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code
  1 12 2003, is amended to read as follows:
  1 13    Each person performing a notarial act pursuant to section
  1 14 9E.10 must acquire and use a stamp or seal as provided in this
  1 15 chapter.  However, this section shall not apply to a notarial
  1 16 act performed by a judicial officer as defined in section
  1 17 602.1101, if the notarial act is performed in accordance with
  1 18 state or federal statutory authority, or is a certification by
  1 19 a chief officer or a chief officer's designee of a peace
  1 20 officer's verification of a uniform citation and complaint
  1 21 pursuant to section 805.6, subsection 5.
  1 22    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 23 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
