1 2 Supplement 2003, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 c. Sell alcoholic beverages, wine, or beer to any person
1 4 on credit, except with a bona fide credit card. This
1 5 provision does not apply to sales by a club to its members nor
1 6 to sales by a hotel or motel to bona fide registered guests.
1 7 This provision also does not apply to sales by a convention
1 8 center, civic center, or events center to persons renting or
1 9 using, pursuant to a written agreement, all or part of the
1 10 facility.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill provides that alcoholic beverages, wine, or beer
1 13 may be sold on credit, on a basis other than through the use
1 14 of a bona fide credit card, by a convention center, civic
1 15 center, or events center to individuals who are renting or
1 16 using all or part of the facility pursuant to a written
1 17 agreement. Currently, Code section 123.49 prohibits selling
1 18 alcoholic beverages, wine, or beer on credit, except with a
1 19 bona fide credit card, unless the sale is being made by a club
1 20 to its members or by a hotel or motel to bona fide registered
1 21 guests. The bill extends this exception to convention
1 22 centers, civic centers, or events centers contracting with
1 23 individuals for facility usage.
