1 4 AUTHORIZING SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND NONPUBLIC SCHOOLS TO
1 5 APPLY CREDIT UNDER THE STATE EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR
1 6 SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF MILITARY BASIC TRAINING.

1 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 10 Section 1. Section 256.11, Code 2003, is amended by adding
1 11 the following new subsection:
1 12 NEW SUBSECTION. 15. The board of directors of a school
1 13 district or the authorities in charge of a nonpublic school
1 14 may award credit toward graduation to a student if the student
1 15 successfully completes basic training in the Iowa army
1 16 national guard, the Iowa air national guard, or as a member of
1 17 the active military forces of the United States or as a member
1 18 of the army national guard of the United States or the air
1 19 national guard of the United States.
